In conjunction with His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit to American University on Saturday, October 10, Kids @ the Katzen will be participating in a project using prayer flags. Participants will learn about the historical and cultural tradition of Tibetan prayer flags. AU Museum staff and volunteers will encourage children to think of their own good wishes or hopes for the world that they will put onto prayer flags. Activities are for children ages 5–11 years accompanied by a parent or guardian and will be held outside the American University Museum in the Rotunda of the Katzen Arts Center.
All programs run from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. There is a material fee of $7 (cash only please).
This will be the Dalai Lama’s second visit to American University’s campus, the first in 1998 on Eight Verses for Training the Mind. The prayer flags from this Kids @ the Katzen event will welcome visitors to the campus for his follow-up teaching, Finding Wisdom in the Modern World, on Saturday, October 10, in Bender Arena.
