Relief Efforts for Victims of the Earthquake in Tibet

Here’s an informative article from the International Campaign for Tibet regarding the relief efforts in Kyegundu, Eastern Tibet.  The post includes a link to Ven Thrangu Rinpoche’s emergency fund. Ven Thrangu Rinpoche writes about the importance of rebuilding Thrangu Tashi Choling monastery as a means for preserving and handing down the precious Dharma teachings for future generations to come. Many monasteries, particularly Kagyu and Sakya it seems, were destroyed in the earthquake.

Other good sources of  late-breaking news are  Students for a Free Tibet, and the Central Tibetan Administration website.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche has offered advice on practices we can do to benefit the victims of natural disasters.

“We have been learning Dharma quite a long time now. So it is time to practice what we have learned. As we know, all mother sentient being have been kind to us from beginingless time. We need to be prepared to repay their kindness when they need our help.

It is our responsibility to come to the aid of the Tibetan people who have suffered from such a great earthquake. I strongly recommend you take this opportunity to participate.” ~ Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Losang Jampa

Please offer your prayers to those in need as well as your financial support to the organizations that are helping our Dharma brothers and sisters in this latest natural disaster in Tibet.

Relief efforts are currently underway due to the work of organizations such as the Tibet Fund,  Tibetan Village Project, and Machik.
