Yangsi Rinpoche gave a very interesting talk about Forgiveness to an audience of about 25 -30 people in Reston. He explained how forgiveness is closely related to patience and is in some ways a form of patience. He then went on to discuss self cherishing and the need to find a middle way — not tuning down our sense of self to the point of low self-esteem, not puffing ourselves up full of pride. Forgiveness is the ultimate generosity. In order to truly forgive, we need to develop compassion first for ourselves and then for the person who we think wronged us. Rinpoche covered a lot of ground in this short teaching, so here’s the link — go to the “MISC” tab, enjoy!
