You’re receiving this letter because at some point you expressed an interest in getting information from the Guhyasamaja Buddhist Center. My name is Matthew Gausman and I am the new membership coordinator at the center, so I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about some of the exciting things we have coming up and explain how you can help.
This is a very dynamic time for the center, we’re actively exploring our options to expand into a new home, one that we may either purchase or lease long-term. To that end we have committed ourselves to a three-pronged approach in order to be fully prepared to make that transition. The success of each of these steps depends entirely on the support of our members and the community, so I am reaching out to you in the hopes that you will join with us to make it happen.
First, a critical component of demonstrating our ability to repay a loan is to have a thriving and active official membership base. For as little as ten dollars a month, you can become a member of our center with all of the privileges described on our website, http://www.guhyasamaja.org. Signing up is fast and easy on our site with a credit or debit card, or alternatively you can find directions there to pay by check or money order. We deeply appreciate everyone who shows their support by becoming a member of our center and we hope you don’t stop there. On our website you will find our new fall schedule, and we hope you come out to as many classes as possible.
That brings me to the second step in our plan. Starting on September 10th, we’re beginning a two year “Discovering Buddhism” educational program. We’re approaching this program with an eye toward people interested in making a real commitment to deeply learning the Dharma and integrating it in their daily lives. Going hand in hand with that, this program will also have a teacher-training component, whereby at the completion of the program those interested would be qualified and encouraged to facilitate classes at our center. This will help us tremendously, as we expand our educational offerings and create a richer and more comprehensive experience going forward into our new location. If you think you might be interested in this opportunity, or even just want a chance to immerse yourself in the teachings, please check out our website and come to our upcoming teachings.
Last, but certainly not least, is our need for new volunteers and sustained fundraising activity. If we are to be able to obtain and preserve our own center full time, we will need people willing to help with various organizational and fundraising activities. We’ve had a very successful two years with our building fund initiative, but we must keep that momentum up and expand upon it. Donations to the building fund are gratefully accepted on our website, and anyone interested in volunteering their time can contact me directly at email@example.com. Please also contact me with any questions, concerns, suggestions.
I know that with your help the center will continue to grow and prosper and continue to be a place where people can learn how to work with their minds for the benefit of all sentient beings. I thank you for your time, and look forward to hearing from and meeting you, and working together so that all living beings can be imbued with happiness and the causes of happiness.
