As many of you know, our center has been engaged in a fundraising effort for several months now in order to have the funds necessary to put a down payment on a permanent home for our teachings. Just this year these efforts have raised over ten thousand dollars, and we gratefully rejoice at the vast merit created by the generosity of so many. Today I am writing to you to share with you the next step in realizing this goal.
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about our community, our shared values and the things that bind us together. Fundamentally, we are seekers. We look for the truth, the path, the rational way forward. It’s that seeking that has brought us to the Dharma, the ultimate expression of the way things are, and of how to live a life of true and deep meaning. In my own experience, I know that finding these teachings was a kind of home-coming, and so I think it’s fitting that the greatest aim of our center is to find its own home, so that an incalculable number of others can experience these teachings for generations to come.
In order to insure that this can happen, I am inviting you to participate in our latest initiative, one that will raise the last ten thousand dollars we need to secure a permanent home for the center. By going to http://www.razoo.com/story/Guhyasamajacenter?referral_code=share and donating twenty-five or fifty dollars, or however much you can afford, you will be helping us reach that goal. In turn this amount will be doubled due to a matching grant, and that twenty thousand dollars will then be doubled again by another generous benefactor, turning your donations into forty thousand dollars. That forty thousand dollars coupled with the money we have already raised will guarantee that we can purchase a home for our center in 2012. This new center will allow us to expand our offerings to the community through a wider and more frequent array of teachings and classes, and provide a stable home for the Tibetan Buddhist community in the area.
In a world dominated by so many things that have so little real value, we have sought the truth and we have found it. Now we must nurture it, see that it grows, and share it with our friends, our neighbors, and our world. Only we can step forward and build our community, only we can make sure that these authentic teachings are available not only for ourselves but for everyone. In that spirit please feel free to share this letter with your friends and family and encourage them to join with you in your support. The two matching grants that will make all of this possible expire on March 31st, 2012. So please take just a moment and follow the link above and help us make this goal a reality.
As always our fundraising efforts will continue beyond this initiative to insure that we can meet the new challenges that will arise, if you would like to discuss how you can help with our longer-term plans, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
