Lama Zopa on Bodhicitta LOP 2014

Here are some thoughts that Lama Zopa Rinpoche shared about bodhicitta during the first week of the 2014 Light of the Path retreat (these are my notes, they are not a transcription):

“You can’t meditate on bodhicitta and emptiness without first developing true renunciation; this would be like tsampa (roasted barley flour) floating on the surface of the river. Your meditation will only be superficial.”

“The stronger your renunciation, the stronger your compassion”.

“Likewise, the greater your compassion for the sentient beings who are suffering in the lower realms, the stronger it will be.”

“Every breath that a bodhisattva takes, every movement that she makes is only for your benefit.”

“The offering that pleases the Buddhas the most is your sincere practice of kindness for others.”

“Giving food to a beggar is the same as offering food to the Buddhas.”

“You don’t need to be Enlightened to give someone a rupee! The time to directly benefit others is Now!”

The Buddha said, “Whoever harms sentient beings does not have faith in in me.”
