Our friend, Hao Ton, has invited Geshe Losang Dhargye, Director of DNKL, in Redding, Connecticut to come to Northern Virginia on August 29. This is one of a series of visits. Geshe la will offer a children’s class and an adults class.
Place: Huong Thien Meditation Center 4516 Guinea Road, Fairfax Virginia 22032
Date: Saturday August 29, 2015
Time: 10 – 11:30 AM
Under the guidance of Geshe Lobsang Dhargey, the children will learn and practice the following:
- recite the Four Immeasurables prayer,
- share Dharma examples in their lives,
- hear stories on the life of the Buddha,
- practice loving-kindness meditation,
- recite the dedication prayers.
Since August is month of Ullambana, or Buddhist Ancestral Appreciation month, Geshe Dhargey will also lead a discussion to explore the countless kindnesses that were bestowed upon us by our parents, society, and many sentient beings around us. Focusing more on developing their ability to analyze and empathize, Geshe Dhargey will engage the children in lively debate and discussion thus giving them a modern-day learning experience.
Adults Class “How to Listen to the Dharma”
Time: 3 to 5 pm.
Location: 3101 Chichester Lane, Fairfax, Virginia (private home)
Geshe Lobsang Dhargey will review and finish the chapter on how to listen to the Dharma. The subject is very elementary yet foundational but you’ll see how thorough and thoughtful the Buddhist masters were when they wrote the commentaries. At the end, there will be Q&A session, and we can discuss and debate any Dharma-related topic. Geshe Dhargey is a very qualified teacher and he comes from far away, so please come and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to further our understanding and appreciation of the Three Jewels.
