Moral Action on Climate Justice Vigil on Sept 23 2015

In the spirit of promoting inter-faith cooperation, we are sharing community events in the D.C. area. Please contact the event organizer for more information: Lou Leonard: Lou.Leonard@wwfus.org

Dear sangha,

We’re delighted to invite you to an interfaith climate vigil on the evening of Wednesday, September 23, the eve of the Pope Francis’s address to the US Congress. The vigil will be an important opportunity for people of all spiritual traditions to gather together, stand with communities already suffering climate injustice, and echo the Pope’s call for ecological and social change.

We’re proud to have 3 wonderful speakers from the Buddhist community — Bhante Dhammasiri, Asoka Bandarage, and Hugh Byrne. We are also blessed to have a group of Theravadan bhikkhus from the Meditation Center of D.C. lead the group in chanting. Please join them and other faith leaders in creating a compassionate, deeply grounded response to climate change.

Below are the details for the event on Friday evening.  Also, we encourage you to also consider attending the inter-faith rally on the National Mall the next morning ahead of Pope Francis’s address to the Congress.  Details for that second event are also provided below.
