When statues teach

Without loosening self-grasping’s iron grip on our hearts, we cannot open ourselves to others. Love and compassion can not take root and flower. As  a result, when we try to invoke the Buddhas, they seem abstract and distant. A statue of the Buddha is mute.

But as our understanding of the Dharma grows we realize that cherishing others is the key that unlocks our own unlimited happiness thus opening the door to Enlightenment. What’s more, by cherishing a single individual, we are in effect serving all sentient beings.

We will all reach a stage along the path, when due to our sincere faith and prayers we will be immersed in the beauty of Dharma and day and night even  Buddha statues will teach.
