“The Song of the Four Mindfulnesses” is a beautiful, profound poem about essential mindfulness practices on the spiritual path. It was composed by the 7th Dalai Lama based upon an oral tradition that came down to him (and now to Khensur Rinpoche Losang Jampa) from Lama Tsongkhapa (who was teacher to the 1st Dalai Lama and founder of the Gelugpa tradition).
This poem teaches us how to integrate awareness or mindfulness into daily life. In particular it clearly explains how to practice mindfulness of the spiritual teacher (or Lama); of compassion and bodhichitta; of the meditational deity; and of emptiness into each moment of our precious human lives in order to thereby extract the deepest possible spiritual meaning and benefit from life.
Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche will spend the weekend going slowly through each verse, explaining its meanings and how to integrate these practices into our lives.
