Cultivating Calm Abiding: a silent retreat on The Four Close Placements of Mindfulness

Sunday, March 18
9:30 am – 4:30 pm
10875 Main Street Unit 108, Fairfax, VA

In this silent retreat, we train in cultivating calm abiding by gently tending to the four close placements of mindfulness: mindfulness of the body, of feelings, of the nature of mind, and the nature of phenomenon.Deepening our practice of calm abiding prepares the ground for sowing the seeds of compassion and wisdom. Honoring silence allows to direct our attention to the dynamic interplay between inner and outer appearances and related mental events.

The retreat includes both walking meditation and a series of guided meditations based on the sutra.

  • All are welcome to attend, no previous experience required.
  • As a courtesy to the attendees, please plan on staying for the entire day.
